Bird & The Bottle
Aimed at bringing street food to life, the Bird & The Bottle in Santa Rosa, CA is the end result of a pair of award-winning restaurateurs looking to blend a surprising array of flavors. Asian, American South, East Coast, Jewish and other cuisines have been combined to create an unforgettable menu.
The menu at Bird & The Bottle features cocktails and an extensive wine list, and foods range from nibbles to larger plates. Everything has been chosen to pair well, and options include seafood favorites, poultry classics like matzo ball soup but also Korean BBQ chicken. There is a vegetarian menu with everything from fried cheese curds to smoked beets, but there are also pork and beef choices in abundance. A visit to Bird & The Bottle has to finish up with a dessert, and the "goo goo pie in another jar" is a must try.
We arrived on time for our reservation. The first hostess checked us in and then checked with another hostess to see if an obviously open table was where she could seat us. The other hostess said she had to give that table to “Joe.” After an uncomfortable silence they almost then had us wait to be seated. When they sensed that their behavior was rude and the vibe was uncomfortable they sat us. Our server was pleasant and the food was good. They just need to work on how you treat people with reservations which Joe didn’t have.
Nice quiet table on the upper deck. Lots of small plates to share. Everything we had was wonderful. Food is brought out as it becomes ready so you don't feel rushed eating one luscious plate while others get cold. Can't wait to go back with friends!
Had not been here before but will definitely be back. Another gem from Mark and Teri Stark. Our server, Laura guided us through the innovative menu with a nice beer and wine list. The smoky poke was phenomenal as were the soft shell crab sliders, Reuben tacos, watermelon salad and barbecued octopus as well as the marvelous desserts. Laura never rushed us and took fantastic care of us. Can’t wait to go back.
It was my first time going to this restaurant. W were seated immediately with a view to their open kitchen where we could watch the action.
Our server gave us stellar service, was very attentive and welcoming. Her name was Brooke.
The food was excellent and unique. I had the pork belly served over cheese grits. It was very delicate and flavorful.
That was followed up with Lemon ice cream sundae with strawberries.
Excellent dining experience!!!!!
Exceptional restaurant and outstanding service & great food. Our server was knowledgeable about the food menu & wine selection. Enjoyed it a lot.
Food selections were fun, delicious, shareable! Our favorites were the Shrimp Wontons and the beet salad and the tomatoes & watermelon salad.
Nice ambiance- lots of outdoor seating available, but we managed to snag a quiet (!) table inside in one of the many well-appointed rooms in this reimagined multi-story house.
This was my sixth time to Bird and the Bottle and it's always fabulous. The only blip was one bar customer who was talking way too loud. Fortunately it did not go on for too long.
BBQ Korean Chicken was outstanding! Also liked the tomato and watermelon salad.
Have visited this restaurant many times and will return.
Bird & the Bottle never disappoints. We've taken visitors from all over the country, as well as Bay Area foodies, and everyone raves about the food. Delicious!
Our first impression was that the woman in the front was excellent and accommodated our needs. The waitress was almost personable. The appetizer, tuna was fantastic. The two salads were very good and the fried chicken was excellent. The crust was cooked perfectly and the chicken was moist. The other vegetable dish that we ordered was a little uneven in flavors. Some of the vegetables did not work with the dish. The carrot cake was perfectly moist, great tasting and just enough for three of us to have enough to share. The coffee was great. There was some tax that I didn't understand $1.50 for something and it was a little confusing. Overall a very nice place. Wish the chairs were not so low but overall is a place I would go again.
Great dinner at Bird and the Bottle after IM Santa Rosa 70.3 - food was fabulous and service was even better!
Tasty small plates, wines and cocktails. Service was outstanding.
Booked for 6 people on Open Table. It showed 2 people , I changed to 6 people,.
Called resteraunt spoke to Sam and TOLD her 6 people.
When we showed up for reservation they had us for 2 people, WRONG
We were STUCK in a corner upstairs on deck. no ambiance ,NOT HAPPY.
Laura our server was great. Tipped her well.
My Mom and I had lunch at Bird and the Bottle, and everything we tried was absolutely outstanding! I could go on and on about the quality of the ingredients, the artistry of the kitchen and the professional waitstaff. Thank you to Bird and the Bottle for making our lunch so enjoyable.
What a delightful surprise! Amazingly clever menu, nicely decorated - paint colors, attention to the details of the existing old house while upgrading. Not an easy task.
Cocktail menu looks as clever as the cuisine. Will be back to indulge when we can.
A couple of our dishes were a little salty but that won’t deter us.
Our waitperson gave 2 solid wines by the glass recommendations after listening to what we tend to prefer. (Wish more wait staff would do so!)
She also recommended the dessert - their carrot cake. And we’re picky a/b carrot cake. This one was over the top.
Moist cake, a whipped lighter than usual but oh so tasty cream cheese frosting, topped w/ candied pecans and a few golden raisins - plumped by something much tastier than hot water!
Thanks, B & B! We’ll be back! 👍🏼🤗
Really good and unusual small plates. Octopus is delicious as is the soft shell crab BLT. Little gems salad was wonderful and so were the crab hush puppies. The Whole Branzino was the only disappointment - deep fried it was difficult to eat and clean from the pin bones. Corn on the cob was also excellent!
Good value for what you get overall. Applause for efforts by the chef to fuse Americana with Jewish and Korean/Japanese cooking - some of it a hit (like the beef steak), some not so much (like the matzo ball soup - balls were big and gooey, broth too salty). My teenage sons wolfed down the shrimp wontons, gramps and I treated ourselves to the bone marrow which was creamy and perfect counterpoint to their crunchy toast. Really appreciated also that they offer carafes as a midway point between a glass and a full bottle for their wine list.
Four of us had a perfect corner table outside on a truly
perfect evening. We arrived early and were seated immediately. We shared five plates and were k Ickes out by the variety and flavors. More than enough food and good cocktails. Raves from all—one first timer who is now a convert.
What a creative and imaginative menu. My dining partner asked about gluten-free options and BAM! they brought a special menu that was gluten-free in one column and vegan in the second column! And the server was on top of how things are prepared ... what to choose and what to avoid. Wonderful wine list. We sat on the front porch and enjoyed the al fresco dining.
My first time to this restaurant which I found out actually been open several years. A wonderful first experience.
i've been going to Bird & Bottle since it opened. This occasion, it was verging on mediocre. The food not as favorable as in past visits. Inside the restaurant, the temperature was rather warm and the wait staff seemed unorganized. Overall, I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting and hoping for more. Sorry. Hopefully, it was just an "off" night.
Most amazing food and service of our trip throughout Napa and Sonoma. So amazing that we can back for brunch the next day!
Great atmosphere. Outstanding customer service. Wonderful drinks and food tapas. Loved the octopus.
Really creative and tasty menu. Great bar. Top notch service- thanks to Laura. Our only knock was the noise level. We will eat out on the front patio next time.
Great food, service was ok, not especially grest
Our server Brook was perfect! We adore this establishment and everyone must try the "What Fo" drink!
I'm usually not a fan of the small plate motif. Yet, not only is B&TB the exception, it's one of my favorite restaurants. The 7 or 8 plates I've had are all unique, and bursting with flavor. On many items, the small plates are a decent size. The two of us ate 5 between us, and were full. The prices are reasonable too.
Dinner with my niece. We sat upstairs on the outdoor patio. It was a wonderful dinner!!
Loved the barbecued octopus! Great dish. Oysters on the half shell were fresh. Fried chicken was very good. Thrice fried potatoes were a crowd pleaser.
Was in Santa Rosa on business, and searching for something new in the area. Saw this restaurant on line and just HAD to try it. I've been lamenting the current downhill slide of restaurants in general recently; portions stay large, quality goes down, price goes up. This Bird & the Bottle is a wonderful fusion/small plates style restaurant that did NOT disappoint. Some items superior to others, as is often the case, but every dish had merit. Feels European and intimate but can seat a lot of people. Eat at the bar! You meet some very interesting people, who are there for the same reason you are. When i'm travelling alone, i will definitely go there, and only there. Felt like home!
Strongly suggest the BBQ Octopus! and i don't usually touch it! Melt in you mouth perfection! Some may find the portions small, but my husband, as seniors, shared 3 dishes with 1 dessert, and it was almost too much. We were much more satisfied with these 1 or 2 small dishes of perfection, than a huge mediocre plate of junk food.
Wine list was fun and interesting as well, and a decent measured pour. I'm used to my local haunts who often up the pour for repeat customers. But the wine prices were 20% less than one place just down the street so I'm not complaining!
It's not perfect for everyone, but we were very pleased with our new find overall. And like one reviewer, i'm going to work my way down the menu each time I visit!
Delicious salads- fried chicken and octopus. Great menu. Fast service. Noisy in a fun way but noisy.
Very inventive food. Our server was helpful in menu selection and when one of our dishes had 3 pieces for a table of four she offered to add another piece and prorate the costs. Nice to have such attention to detail and knowledgeable service. Food was nicely prepared and in many cases, a work of art!
We will be back!
Absolutely delicious food. I'm celiac and I'm sorry I couldn't try more of the items on the menu, but what I did eat was incredibly flavorful. Very cool vibe, excellent service, and great wine list.
Love the creative cocktails, really different and fun. Food was creative small plates, and delicious.
Weird menu. Open kitchen unpleasant to the eye and I think it added to the noise level, which was high. I might return for a drink and a snack. Not for a pleasant dinner.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Food was excellent, service excellent and ambiance excellent. I was taking clients to dinner so in that respect it was a little noisy but we all thoroughly enjoyed every dish and our waitress was phenomenal!
I’ve had dinner, lunch and cocktails here! Loved it all! Took some new friends in this weekend and they are sold! ❤️
The food was fantastic and while we didn’t taste everything, I’m sure it all would’ve been delish! The grilled BBQ octopus was so tasty and had great balance of spice and sweet. The lamb meatballs were also a home run. Very generous portion on the meatballs. I think the chef did a great amount for each of the small plates. The fried chicken sandwich was simple, but elevated with the condiments. Perfect crunch on the “fry” too! Perfect after a wine tour! Hope to go back.
Korean BBQ was outstanding! Little Gem salad just as good. And, the lemon ice cream sundae not to be missed.
Great experience! The chairs were a little soft, felt a little constricting. But, everything else was wonderful!
