In the kitchen is Mario’s brother Sal, the chef who is out daily in the early morning markets personally selecting the ingredients for the seasonally changing menu and seeking out the most interesting and pristine items.
Placing yourselves in Mario’s hands for the tasting menus proves to be a wise decision. The Marino wine list has been repeatedly an award winner by Wine Spectator.
Went to TOMATO WEDNESDAY at Marino's ( only held during the summer months) to enjoy Chef Sal's wonderful "Tomato" menu (all the types of tomatoes-20 varieties- come from Sal's own garden.
This is our second TW of the season and it was again outstanding and a great value as well. The restaurant was full of diners excitedly eating their meals. 3 different types of Gazpacho, several crudos as well as cooked fish starters/appetizers. Mains were also so delicious. We had the linguine and scallops.
The warm welcome when entering Marino's, the great food, the outstanding service and even the terrific service by the valet make going to Marino's for Tomato Wednesday or ANY other time a most wonderful evening.
Our favorite neighborhood gem!
Wonderful food. Beautiful setting. Great food . I highly recommend this restaurant
Had a group of eight for business lunch. Management was very accommodating and service, food and ambiance very all good.
Enjoying the beautifully crafted and presented food here is always a pleasure. Quiet surroundings and grown-up, sophisticated food that relies on excellent quality and unpretentious selections make this our go-to restaurant when we’re not feeling experimental.
It was so hot inside, the AC wasn’t wo well.
As always excellent ! Always something new to try /this week cauliflower mushroom ! Had never heard of it /was delicious . Able to easily carry on a conversation . Definitely a favorite restaurant.
Favorite place to dine when we hit the west coast.
Small cozy but wonderful people, yummy food and friendly service.
Old School Italian with an uncomfortable banquette to sit on.. seems like you could be transported to a neighborhood restaurant in New Jersey in the 70’s .. could be overlooked or even a plus if the food were outstanding which it is not.. over cooked Rapini.. and boring pasta dish with various mushrooms .. appetizers that were small .. a desert that came out of a box.. you would just need to eat spaghetti vongole here and hope it was good.. the restaurant is trying to be more complex with its offerings.. and it fails,.. meh..
I adore this restaurant. But more importantly, I enjoy the staff. Tonight, Mario and Danny made our evening absolutely decadent. Always welcoming, knowledgeable of the menu and wine pairings, and jovial with a sense of family-esque authenticity. I will always be back and cannot heap enough praise on Marino. You guys know how to do fine dining with pure class and charm.
Went here as a group of 6. We had reservations and showed up on time and still had to wait 10 minutes to get seated even though the restaurant was quite empty.
Marino is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is exceptional featuring genuine Italian dishes seasoned to perfection. The service is simply professional. Waiters actually care about what you are eating and drinking. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The ambience is homey and comfortable. Mario, the owner, is always there which is a sign that he cares about the customer and the food he is feeding them. Simply great.
Went with friends to celebrate my retirement and had, as usual, a fantastic meal- burrata and peach salad and the halibut on a bed of polenta and asparagus . It was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented . A friend had the crudo and the pizza with black truffle. Delicious! We finished the meal with the Tiramisù , very light and also delicious. Once again, another fabulous meal at my favorite Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. I always feel so welcomed by Mario and Sal is my # 1 chef in LA. Couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate.
The Filet Mignon Sinatra was the best ever. The veal scallopini was also quite good. The service could not have been better!
Superb lunch! Sal is the most underrated chef in Los Angeles. Mario is a great host with an excellent wait staff!!! Wondeful ambiance!
Great family restaurant with very good food. Prices are reasonable.
what a treasure to have here in LA!! there are dishes at Marino's that set the bar... their Linguini with Clams is THE BEST anywhere .... the Caesar Salad is pretty perfect.... actually tried the Eggplant Parm for the first time and was blown away by how great it was.. very exciting wine list ...... then there is the service.... Mario always makes you feel like family ...truly the most amazing hospitality you will find anywhere.....LOVE LOVE and more LOVE
Just like the best Italian restaurants in NYC. The Italian Cheesecake beats NYC’s Ferrara’s by a long shot!
Very friendly staff. They were fantastic, especially the manager who insisted on holding our loud little mess maker while we finished our meals. Very awesome! That alone gave us a great deal of peace of mind to whole establishment. I recommend this place 100%.
A+ outstanding meal! One of the best steaks I’ve ever had in my life! Service was great as well! Can’t wait to return!
Sals food is not only delicious but you feel amazing after you eat. The way farm to table should be.
Always great, always consistent. The food is old-school genuine Italian. They always use what’s in season for their specials which I really appreciate.
Favorite place in LA. The perfect mix of atmosphere, wonderful food and amazing staff. I’d eat there every night if I could.
Marvelous as always, the staff and owners are warm and welcoming and the food is outstanding no matter what is ordered. Sal Marino is an innovative chef with interesting and delicious specials as well as executing the classic dishes on the menu superbly.
This is one of my best finds in Los Angeles. I found the restaurant about three months ago and I've been there five times. The food is fantastic. The wait staff bend over backwards for you. Management is wonderful.
Food was mostly good. Somehow the Chef left the salt caked Bronzino with too much salt. Otherwise it was a delightful evening.
Very charming restaurant, always a pleasure to come even though it is not the most convenient from where we live. Thanks to all the staff.
You always feel at home...if home had the finest cooking and the friendliest service!
First class service. Exceptional food.
The food and ambiance is of a type expected for an upscale Old World Italian Restaurant. It was decided to order wine off of the menu. An Amorone was ordered to be decanted at the beginning of the evening without issue. A second wine was ordered to open immediately, but it did not happen, no wine for 20-30 minutes...they did not have the ordered wine...no big deal but we are sitting there with no wine, just a few appetizers for too long. Why? I don't know. The people were attentive but not wanting to deliver bad news? They have a tremendous wine list, if out of something then tell the customer. Would we go again? Yes, but there is a but...not at the top of our list for now.
Absolutely incredible food, service and ambience. Would highly recommend the Branzino prepared tableside.
From the greeting at the door, to the comfortable booth, the attention by the staff, and the delicious authentic Italian food, we had a wonderful experience! I judge Italian restaurants by the Linguine Vongole and my husband compares Italian restaurants by the Branzino and we both agree that this is the best in the city, maybe anywhere outside of Italy.
The service was incredible. They were friendly and authentic. They were speedy with the food. The food was AMAZING. It’s my new favorite Italian restaurant by far.
Love this place. Food is amazing. Service is on point. Everything about Marino's is spot on.
Marvelous as always!!
Excellent Italian food in an intimate setting. Family owned and operated for many years. Attention to detail is phenomenal and traditional dishes soar. Always delicious fresh seafood and wonderful pasta. Worth a special trip.
A real neighborhood gem with wonderful ambiance, top notch traditional Italian fare as well as modern and fresh dishes based on seasonal offerings. Service is impeccable.
