Jeanne D'Arc - Cornell Hotel De France
Founded by the Lambert family in 1972, the restaurant is a favorite of locals and visitors. Jeanne D'Arc offers a prix fixe menu and a cellar of well chosen California and French wines. The restaurant is perfect for before-curtain supper, a gathering of good friends, or romance with conversation.
Prix Fixe: $56/pers
Great dining experience! The lamb chops were excellent!!
This was an outstanding restaurant for an annuversaey dinner. The food and service were both outstanding. The atmosphere felt like being whisked away to a medieval castle.
We decided after our meal that this restaurant is the best French restaurant in San Francisco.
We had a wonderful dinner. The food, ambience and service was wonderful.
This was our 3rd dinner here , about 2 years apart. Each time has been very good, so I only hesitated a little at the new $56 Prix Fixe arrangement. But it was our anniversary, so, what the heck! I mentioned in my notes that we had an 8pm show, and that we could arrive earlier than a 6pm reservation. The manager called and offered to seat us at 5:30, which we gratefully accepted.
Upon arrival we were seated, then very quickly offered a chance to move as a table of 7 was to be nearby. We gladly accepted a table in a cozy corner. Let me just say that every item put before us was exquisite, borderline orgasmic to the taste buds, especially the raspberry sauce for the breast of duck. But also the Escargot, the French version of a Caprese salad, the soup, and the Gran Marnier souffle. (Though my wife and I wished that one of us had ordered a chocolate dessert!) Even the vegetables were amazing. I've never tasted carrots so delicious! The service was spot-on, and timing of the dishes was perfect. I asked for a wine recommendation (wasn't sure what would pair with my duck, especially as I needed only one glass) and my server poured a very nice glass of a French Pinot Noir. Exquisite. Highly recommended. We WILL be back, hopefully sooner than 2 years!
Non mi è piaciuto l’ambiente, triste e lucubre, e neanche tanto il cibo. Non lo consiglio
We have been enjoying this lovely restaurant over 18 years . The quality of food has been extremely consistently excellent for the price .
The ambiance and the service are also consistently great . Here we can also talk with friends at a table without shouting to each other , unlike many other noisy restaurants in San Francisco.
It is indeed a gem of the city and the waiter , Dan , is always very friendly , genuinely cheerful and helpful . Highly recommend to French food lovers.
Very good food. Steak and duck was just a little over- cook. The restaurant was too hot. They needed some fans.
We have now been going to Jeanne D'Arc for 30 years, and we delight in seeing the same owner, and many of the same wait staff as well. It is a beautiful building and the restaurant is like being in French grotto. And the food is delicious!
Loved it! Great atmosphere and great food. Definitely worth the price.
There were no tables available on OpenTable for a party of six, so we settled for a smaller party of four. We were therefore surprised to see several empty tables, some that could accommodate six.
My favorite restaurant. We've been going there many times before your SF Chronicle article. Dan is amazing to watch in action. He has become a friend. Keep up your good work!
Coming from europe, too expensive place... closed menu
Once again - a wonderful return experience at Jeanne D’Arc - food, service and atmosphere are absolutely wonderful and Francine - the roving violin player - makes it one of our most favorite dining places in San Francisco!!!
FOOD ALWAYS OUTSTANDING. GREAT AMBIENCE. YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE IN A SPECIAL PARIS RESTAURANT.
PRICE FIX, WITH GRAND MARINIER SOUFFLE FOR DESERT INCLUDED, AND OUTSTANDING MENU.
IN ADDITION WINES ARE VERY FAIRLY PRICED.
ENJOY A GREAT EVENING, AT A GREAT RESTAURANT. ONE OF THE LAST GRAND RESTAURANTS IN SAN FRANCISCO.
Best French food in town. The Grand Marnier soufflé is exceptional. Highly recommended.
Such a memorable experience..Food was wonderful! It was a special evening complete with Francine, the violinist. Can't wait to return.
The food was excellent. The ambiance was charming, like having dinner in France
We had a wonderful time, once again (this is our second time). What a find! Great service, fantastic food. Easy walk from Union Square where we were staying. Total joy!
Superbe! We thoroughly enjoyed every bit of our evening. Merci beaucoup!
a romantic place, including a violinist to make the evening special.
Authentic French cuisine in a cozy European setting. We will definitely come back!
The food was amazing! Great service, very nice waitress! celebrate our anniversary and we have 2 glasses of champagne as a gift! thank you, we will come back for sure!
Let me start by saying that the staff were THE nicest people and really wanted us to have a fantastic experience and were extremely accommodating.
BUT. Given the reviews I was more hopeful for the food. My escargot was gritty. That’s not a term I have ever used to describe escargot. My steak. Meh. Sauce. Meh. The highlight of the meal was dessert, which we truly enjoyed. And the wine by the glass is very minimal. I think my expectations were set high by reviews and I should have realized that this dinner was more about ambiance (which was really fantastic) then food. Maybe the owners being on vacation also had an effect on the meal. For $52 fixe pris I would have rather had just a $12 dessert. Or eliminate one course and use better ingredients. You are all so nice I would love to see your quality rise and sacrifice some quantity.
Good was excellent. Service was fast. Ambiance was great. Price was outstanding.
Outstanding food, service and atmosphere. I will definitely return when we next visit San Francisco.
Very nice ambiance. They did make it like cafe / restaurant in France. Unfortunately, the food was not come to par with it. Main courses that we ate: lamb, sweet bread, and rabbit all have similar sauces - hard to differentiate.
My sister, her daughter and myself came to Jeanne D’Arc for a 69th surprise birthday gathering for my sister and then to the SF Playhouse afterwards. This was our first visit as 2 of us live about 3 hours north of SF.
This place is AWESOME! Very quaint and nicely decorated. The staff after we let them know we had theater reservations afterwards were extremely accommodating to our needs. They even brought my sister a glass of champagne for her birthday as well as when her dessert came out it was complete with a birthday candle. Then the live violinist came over and played her the Happy Birthday song!! How awesome is that!!
The five course dinner was outrageously superb. We couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience.
I “HIGHLY” recommend that you give this pre-fixe quaint restaurant a try, you won’t be disappointed - we weren’t!
We were concerned that there wouldn’t be enough choices on the fixed price menu. We were wrong and everything was excellent. The rack of lamb and soufflé were particularly impressive. Also the old France atmosphere is fascinating. Pretty expensive but well worth it.
We enjoyed excellent service and good food. We were made to feel very welcome. French cuisine was well prepared and presented. Dessert souffle was outstanding.
The four course dinner was excellent. I had the rack of lamp and my wife had the chilean sea bass for entrees. The ambience was great but felt a little rush in ordering our meal. We will certainly go back again.
Delicious and plentiful food. Lovely ambiance, great service. Will be back again.
Every year that I visit San Francisco, I reserve time for dinner at Jeanne D'Arc. I love the food and the service. Jeanne D'Arc has never disappointed me.
Unique ambiance and excellent food. The staff was extremely helpful in recommending dishes and wine. The restaurant provides old world ambiance and classic dishes. Perfect for a romantic dining experience
A frequent special night dinner choice. This week there was a violinist. Don't Miss the Grand Marnier Soufflet. The closest you can get to Europe without going through SFO. Jim Kushner
Once again we had an amazing dinner - everything was delicious and our server was wonderful- we had a play to get to and he made sure we got served in plenty of time to get to the play - ambience is lovely - a strolling violinist makes it very romantic 😊
Dining Room is absolutely beautiful and completely French. The prix fixe meal was very good and a great value for the price. We were celebrating a birthday and it couldn't have been more lovely -- complete with the roving violinist who played happy birthday! Really a special evening. (Don't miss the Grand Marnier souffle for dessert!)
We lived in Paris many years ago and have never, until discovering Jeanne D'Arc, found such a delightful and authentic restaurant. Whenever we pass through San Francisco we must have a meal or two there.
Really enjoyed our experience! Good food with excellent choices. We went with our baby and we were looked after very well. Would love to go back
