Oh, you wanted a restaurant description? Sorry. Can’t really help you there. We’re not so big on labels. Our food is hard to nail down as we are constantly evolving and entirely seasonal and personal. We’ve used “Food you eat” as a tag line on occasion and that remains accurate. We could also describe it as “Food we really want you to eat”. When you’re here, tell us what you would call it.
For 25 years firefly at the top for taste, quality and service.
Some favorite appetizers not available, Brussels sprouts & seafood dumplings! However the bread and spread were great, as always. Reluctantly I tried the grilled daikon radish cakes, encouraged by my wait person. Love it! Wine and entrees were excellent. Proposed marriage to my parter on out 18the anniversary with the support of wait staff. At 69 I needed a pad to kneel on and a helping hand up. Desert came with candles to blow out, as did the daikon cake. The desert & desert wine was on the house.
We have celebrated anniversaries, birthdays and special occasions here for 18 years. Thanks for making this anniversary and marriage proposal special.
We loved this neighborhood restaurant. Great service, food and atmosphere. The cauliflower crust flatbread was amazing.
Loved the food. Great wine recommendation. Can’t wait to come back!
We were super disappointed. I think this place is seriously overrated.
Everything was amazing! From the wine selection to dessert and service!
Excellent food and the service was high quality. Highly recommended!
Always terrific. Easy parking, nice people, great food. Will return soon.
Split a heirloom tomato salad. Both of us had Fried Chicken with a buttermilk biscuit. Then split a dessert. Very good. We will be back.
Went with some friends for their birthday. Great seasonal food, really tasty.
Very expensive for a neighborhood restaurant with mixed results for the food. Pork chop was $32! My trout was overseasoned and not very hot by the time it was served. A limited menu, especially if you eat meat. Two glasses of wine hit $30 and there was not a dessert, which we shared, for under $12. This restaurant has been around for at least 25 years which is a headscratcher. We struck out trying to get i a reservation with short notice at a nearby favorite of ours, so we figured we would give Firefly a chance. The last time we went there was 15 years ago and it might be just as long a wait before we make it back.
Super special! This is one of my favorite restaurants! I'm gluten free and can eat almost everything on the menu, and it is superb. The staff are friendly and relaxed, and the atmosphere is very romantic! The first time I went there with my boyfriend, when we first met, and it was very romantic. Then I went there for my birthday because I like it that much, and got the same seat! He's a vegetarian and there were many options he liked.
I was recently diagnosed with Celiacs and I’ve been coping with the fact that it’s difficult to eat at most quality restaurants. Our dining experience at FireFly completely debunked my belief. We’re still talking about the quality of everything we ate. Every single one of our dishes was great. Appetizers: Rock Shrimp and polenta, Sweet Potato Tostones (Amazing!!) entres: Fried Chicken (some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had!), and the fish stew which was delicious. Finally, the dessert... the s’mores are a must. We paired the s’mores with the corn ice cream which I’ve been thinking about for the last few days. Make sure you get it if it’s available! Overall A+. Can’t wait to go back.
This is one of my favorite places in SF! The food is amazing! The menu changes with the season and offers great variety! The staff is very knowledgeable about the food and wine, and they are very attentive! The fried chicken is to die for! But this trip I had the pork chop!
A little gem of a place! Try the seed loaf you won’t regret it. It’s a great place for GF folks!
I hadn't been to Firefly in many years. It was a great place to meet with two friends and chat. The noise level was a non issue - which is refreshing. The service great. The S'mores bite for dessert, I'm still thinking about one week later! It's incredible this restaurant has been around approx. 28 years!
It might have been a off night
but usually food here excellent
I have been contacted by management
who expressed interest in my disappointment
the evening I came in
Will be back again as the rotating menu is
a nice change
I live in the neighborhood and frequently host both personal and business meals here. Great place!!
Delicious food, great ambience and perfectly tucked away in a quiet spot of the city.
The service is always attentive and top notch. Great wine selection. Food is impeccable.
Incredible good. Perfect for anyone gluten free. Fried chicken was amazing!
Food and wine were delicious. Service was friendly and quick. Interesting and cool ambience!
Every dish was delish. Loved how I was able to taste a couple of wines before deciding on what I wanted. What was especially great was the waitress we had -- she was a gem.
We arrived early and were seated promptly. The wait staff was super attentive and had great recommendations as this was our first time. I would definitely recommend the corn and Japanese sweet potatoes as starters. The shrimp and grits could have been bigger as well as the pizza however they were both really delicious and flavorful. The roasted cauliflower was roasted to perfection and filling. I would highly recommend Firefly.
The Mexican corn and the ocean trout were both amazing!
Firefly is one of those neighborhood restaurants that offers the perfect dining experience for any occasion—from a weeknight post-work meal to a special night out. The food is always outstanding, the ambiance warm and inviting, and the staff always works hard to make sure every guest gets just the right amount of attention. We are so lucky to actually live in walking distance to Firefly, but we’d fight traffic and inclement weather to have a meal here.
you just can’t go wrong here, food, service, ambiance - Firefly has it all. I love everything about this restaurant and you will, too. Don’t miss this place! Eat here if you have the chance, it’s the neighborhood gem every neighborhood wishes they had.
My wife has celiac disease. She was so happy to have a menu full of choices and the whole family thought their food was delicious!
This was a celebratory dinner for a new family that moved into Noe valley. Everything was amazing from the service, food and ambiance. We will all definitely be back soon!
Wonderful food and friendly staff! I will definitely be returning.
The food was good. The customer service of the waitress and waiter/busser could have been improved to be elevated with the dining experience. Brusk, rushed and not attentive service received.
I love Firefly for all occasions, special and daily.
Coming back from three weeks in Europe and countless restaurants, Firefly was the perfect choice. Delicious inventive combinations of farm to table choices. The best corn chowder ever, fried chicken to die for, luscious bass and house made ice cream with unexpected flavors.
An outstanding waiter who was accommodating, personable, articulate, friendly and funny to boot. Who could ask for anything more?
Every time we are in town we dine here. Best food!
The food and service is always perfect. It’s our favorite restaurant in all of SF
Though being our family go-to for various celebrations for many years now, on our last visit it did not live up to our expectations. The menu was not broad enough and the servings were too precious. Good food does not need so much elaboration, and bacon is not necessary on many dishes. And still no espresso machine. Good wait-staff though.
Love this place! Our “go to place” for all special family and friends occasions. Our favorite, for years!
Delicious food and fantastic off-the-beaten path wines! We love Firefly!
Excellent restaurant - great food, friendly, attentive service, awesome vibe and ambiance
