Cafe La Haye
This is a small hidden gem just off the main street of the Sonoma village, about 400 feet. Friendly inviting service, inventive menu with specials earmarked for the local catch possibilities and also wines, sparkling, red, white or port-like recently made available. No matter what, please try the Salmon, local bay King Salmon, lacquered with intense taste, balanced with crisp fresh vegetables and more. And the wine list? Great values, not triple priced. Our favorite? Blue Farm Pinot Noir. You will be positively shocked.
Always excellent food, wonderful service. Our favorite place in Sonoma square.
This place was excellent, overall our best meal in a few days in the Sonoma area. The food was very tasty, if a bit expensive. The staff was attentive, and the environment quite inviting. Highly recommended.
Greatest summer risotto! Love this place and if I didn’t live in NYC I would eat here often.
The meal was delicious. The restaurant has great ambiance. I plan of going back.
Cafe La Haye is consistently wonderful in every way a dining establishment should be. Sol welcomes us warmly, the wait staff are efficient and gracious and of course, the food is outstanding. If it is a bit pricey, dining at Cafe La Haye is worth every penny!
Cafe La Haye is one of our favorite places to dine. The food is fresh and delicious, and the service is outstanding...servers like Esther are so helpful and friendly.
We had the beef carpaccio, beet salad and tuna tombo for appetizers - each dish so deliciously balanced and beautiful on the plate. i love the glazed pork chops. our guests had the salmon and the quail. everything was devoured and we tried not to lick the plates...so good!
we look forward to the next time we can dine here again.
Fantastic meal! KAfter a short wait our table was ready (we did have a reservation). Our server was so attentive and made sure one salad was made without cheese. The little gem salad had amazingly fresh greens and the sweetest cherry tomatoes without any skin. And the generous sprinkling of blue cheese on my salad was one of the best blue cheeses I’d ever had. My salmon was perfectly cooked (rare) with delicious polenta and some veggies. Others at our table loved the chopped romaine salad (without feta) and the buffalo mozzarella with shishito peppers and beefsteak tomato. For entrees people loved the risotto with shrimp, the filet and the pork chop. We shared desserts including the peach crumble but in my opinion the yuzu cheesecake was absolutely fantastic. This restaurant is an awesome dinner spot in Sonoma and I hope to return.
Simple but elegant dining room and excellent service. The menu is small but full of variety. Save room for desert
Wonderful food and service, great selection of wines and other beverages. Had a fantastic night, and would highly recommend to others.
We chose this place simply because of the reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed at all. The food was absolutely amazing. Cafe la Haye must be on everyone's to do list for everyone visiting Sonoma.
Loved every minute of my visit to Cafe La Haye. From the kind greeting at the door through my last bit of dessert, each and every delicious moment showed the food here is filled with love and the people who work here enjoy what they do:) do not miss this unpretentious hidden gem when you visit Sonoma.
Cafe La Haye is our favorite local restaurant! It is a first class place to dine!
Cafe La Haye is wonderful. The charming two level small restaurant is exactly what we were looking for. The food amazingly fresh and tasty. The owner and staff were excellent. We only wish we arrived earlier to order the quail.
Food beautifully presented and atmosphere conducive to conversation. Delicious offerings...would recommend.
Excellent menu. Beautifully presented food. Everything was delicious. Superior quality on all fronts.
What a special night! We were celebrating our anniversary and, with some table arrangements made for us, we had a lovely 2nd floor table overlooking the street. The Petrole Sole was one of the best meals we have ever had and the wine recommendation made by our waiter was a perfect match. Thanks for a wonderful evening!
We love Cafe La Haye! It’s our favorite restaurant in Sonoma for a special occasion. The food is amazing, the Servers so professional and personable, and Saul, the Owner is a lovely host and always comes by the table to check on you!
Everything was perfect and the food was to die for.
Great meal in a comfortable room. Had the fish and it was lovely.
Wonderful engagement celebration
Always outstanding, and wine list is thoughtful and fairly priced.
This restaurant was extraordinary on every level. We enjoyed one of the most memorable meals we've had anywhere from the Beef Carpaccio garnished with Fried Oysters to the generous, perfectly Grilled Loin of Lamb to the dense Chocolate Mousse Cake. Simply remarkable food, service, and atmosphere and the portions are not 'minimalist'. Menu items are more than reasonably priced considering the care, quality and ample portions of each course. The dinner was the highlight of our visit to Sonoma.
Everything was outstanding! From the food to the service, we truly enjoyed our first dining experience. We will definitely be back again. (Bonus- the desserts, port and coffee- were a phenomenal ending to a delicious meal).
We had a great experience from beginning to end. The food was as excellent as we were told by others it would be. But we were pleasantly surprised by the lovely, quiet atmosphere and the incredibly attentive and caring server and assistants. And the manager even stopped by to say hello. It was not cheap, but it was totally worth it and we look forward to going again.
This restaurant is excellent. The food, wine selection and friendly, helpful and professional staff are fabulous. The Michelin quality of this restaurant is well deserved. The restaurant is great value for the quality of the experience.
Perfect in every way. Outstanding quality, preparation, presentation and service in a relaxing and elegant setting.
Always a delightful experience.
This lovely restaurant just off the central square in downtown Sonoma is one of a kind. Beautiful architecture and delicious food it has become my favorite restaurant in Sonoma!
Cafe La Haye is one of the best (if not the best) restaurant in downtown Sonoma, just off the Plaza. Owner/class act Saul oversees the cozy dining room . . . while Chef Jeffrey Lloyd, one time executive chef at Michael Mina and Aqua (San Francisco) works his magic with his team in the small open kitchen . . . something for everyone = Steak - Chicken - Pork - Fish - Pasta & Vegetarian . . . Cafe La Haye checks all the boxes . . . Great Food ✅ Great Wine List ($ to $$$) ✅ Numerous Options by the Glass ✅ Great Desserts ✅ Great Service ✅ Great Stemware ✅ White Tablecloths ✅ Great Ambiance ✅
. . . if that wasn't enough for ya, Cafe La Haye has been a perennial pick by food critic Michael Bauer of the San Francisco Chronicle (in his annual Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants list year after year) as one of his favorite restaurants in the Wine Country.
Side Note: Make sure (before or after your Cafe La Haye experience) to visit "Sigh" just down the street . . . a fun & chic Sparkling Wine/Champagne tasting room (open late) . . . you'll be glad you did (wink).
Wonderful food, well prepared with polite and prompt service - the only drawback was one group of drunk local men (50s-60s, wives had divorced them?) who seemed to be under the impression that being regulars granted them the right to be loud and make sexist comments to the female staff.
My absolute favorite restaurant in Sonoma! I’ve been coming here for years. The entire staff makes you feel welcome, without being overly fussy. The food is consistently delicious and varied, small menu, excellent wine selection.
We love Cafe La Haye - it is always excellent food and wonderful service. My favorite restaurant in town.
Great food and personable, efficient staff. Would definitely eat there again.
We love coming here as ther serve my most favorite Savignon Blanc (Rochioli) and you can't find it at other restaurants. My husband had a vegan pepper soup. He loved it. We shared a salad of ice berg and maple bacon with utter milk dressing(also delicious). We chose the BBQ chicken for entire and it was very dissaponting. It obviously was not bbq'd but roasted in oven, served with potato salad and an ear of corn. We should have known better...but in the moment of a warm night and eating kind of late for us. We will definitely go back but will skip this dish if they serve it again. I usually go for their fish which is always spectacular!
Service was great
Really liked the wine list
Food pairing was immaculate
Café La Haye was fabulous as always! Service was outstanding.
Very nice place, great food! The owner was awesome
An amazing restaurant with exploratory staff and incredible food. The quail is a special, but if you are lucky enough to be there, it's really fantastic. The silk cake for dessert is an absolute must! Thank you for taking great care of us yet again.
