Rockwall native, Chef David Hoffman and his wife, restaurant and wine industry veteran Jenni Hoffman, opened The Downing Bottles & Bites in order to bring their experience and expertise home to historic Downtown Rockwall. When you stop in, you'll be greeted by our retail and tasting area, where you can purchase wine and craft beer by the bottle to enjoy at home.
Or stay awhile in our cozy café, where Chef David and his team serve up the very best small plates, sandwiches, and salads, desserts. Our book club meets once a month. We've tried all of the restaurants in downtown Rockwall and, hands down, this is the best! When the weather is fine, we reserve a table outside. When it's not great outside, we usually prefer the tasting room. Always, we leave happy!

Cafe Momentum is a non-profit restaurant that serves as a paid post-release internship for juvenile offenders. Youth are released from detention into the sheltered environment of Café Momentum’s post-release program. Café Momentum’s program teaches critical skills that allow youth to re-enter society in a safe, real-world environment of nurturing accountability. By participating in our program, at-risk young people rotate through every aspect of the restaurant from waiting tables to washing dishes, while working side-by-side with established chefs.

The paid internship gives them the opportunity to exercise and practice their new skills while continuing to develop leadership, social, and vocational skills for as long as they choose to maintain involvement with Café Momentum. Additionally, Café Momentum works with the Dallas County Juvenile Justice Department to serve youth deemed highest risk for incarceration.

The restaurant at The Range Vintage Trailer Resort currently accepts reservations for dinner on Fridays at 7pm and Saturdays at 7pm. We have limited seating.

With a small, passionate team, The Range's family-style dining experience takes place in the barn restaurant and covered patio. Guests can enjoy drinks from the 1959 Airstream Globetrotter trailer bar. Dining in the open-air restaurant has a relaxed and casual family-style atmosphere, with fans in summer and heaters in winter, and a beautiful view across the water.

How have I not been here before? Great wine selection. And we were there for happy hour, so terrific value. The waiter even came over before HH ended to let us know and see if we wanted to order another drink. Love this place!

This is one of my FAVORITE neighborhood restaurant. The food is consistent and it’s always delicious. The service is impeccable and the atmosphere is quaint and charming. The chef is absolutely amazing such a talented man. If you have never been, please do yourself a favor and go. Book a reservation make it happen. You won’t regret it.

Food was delicious. One of the best steak and lobster meals I've had! Service was great, noise level was moderate, and overall we enjoyed the atmosphere. My only drawback was the hard, unpadded seating. No padded seats to be found anywhere. Was a little uncomfortable throughout the meal. Otherwise, a very nice evening.

Great food, lovely setting and wonderful service. Having not eaten here previously, the food though not fancy or foo foo was well prepared, nicely plated and just yummy. I did think however that directions regarding parking for Cafe 43 were not optimal and a ten dollar fee, especially if not spending the day at the museum was pricey. Outside of that I highly recommend a visit!
