About the restaurant
Карро Kappo debuts at Austin Proper Hotel, offering an intimate French-Japanese chef's tasting menu experience where A5 wagyu beef and pristine seafood are served at a chef's counter guided by seasonality and craft.

Born in Paris to Japanese parents, twin chefs Gohei and Haru Kishi have trained in esteemed kitchens around the world. Kappo Kappo is a natural extension of their upbringing, blending traditions and experiences into one ever-changing tasting menu.

The space, designed by Kelly Wearstler, echoes the spirit of the cuisine. It is warm but refined, grounded yet elevated. Every detail invites connection, from the rhythm of the courses to the open-kitchen energy that brings guests into the fold.

The chefs speak directly to your party as they plate each course. No shouting over a crowded counter, no rehearsed speech to the whole room - just a quiet, personal exchange about what's in front of you. The music is upbeat but not loud, and the room has this calm energy that's rare for downtown. Kappo means "to cut and to cook," and you watch them do exactly that - slicing toro, kanpachi, A5 Wagyu, and black truffles right there. The first course set the tone immediately: a Gougère stuffed with Japanese nori emulsion, topped with toro tartare on one side and A5 wagyu on the other. I've never had anything like it. Toro is my favorite food in the world, so the side-by-side bluefin nigiri - one o-toro, one leaner - was SO SO good! I came in assuming o-toro would win, but tasting them back to back, we actually preferred the simpler cut. Might be the best piece of tuna nigiri I've ever had. The biggest surprise was the red meat. With a steakhouse on every corner downtown, I didn't expect beef to be the standout. But the beef boeuf bourguignon was incredible and the Wagyu + Wagyu course - a Miyazaki A5 ribeye next to a Dallas Rosewood Ranch striploin - was so filling! The chefs taught us all about dashi and fish flakes and how everything is made. Nothing about Kappo Kappo is pretentious or showy. It's just a super thoughtful, beautifully portioned meal where you feel genuinely taken care of. Worth every penny, and we'll be back.

About the restaurant
Lucky Robot is the first sushi restaurant in Texas to partner with the James Beard Foundation and Monterrey Bay Aquarium sustainability programs. We are committed to healthy oceans.

Our kitchen is lead by two time Ora King Finalist Jay Huang. Our food is Modern Nikkei cuisine, a balance of Japanese cuisine accentuated with the fragrant chilies and aromatic spices of Latin America.

Prime dry-aged fish is here. A tradition started over 200 years ago in Tokyo and now the first in Texas. Prime Dry Aged Fish will allow you to taste the fish in its purest form. Breaking down tissues and sugars allows new flavors and textures that bring the fish to its cleanest, most tender form. Age = Flavor.

For parties of six or more, please see our Large Party Information under Contact at our website (https://www.luckyrobotatx.com/).

Please note: Last seating for Omakase Experiences are 30 minutes prior to close

About the restaurant
TenTen serves craveable, shareable Japanese-inspired dishes - fresh sashimi and sushi, Wagyu steaks, and flavor-forward grilled meats and vegetables - alongside a full sake program, Japanese-inspired cocktails, and curated wine and beer.

The space feels the part: stone and wood, cozy booths, warm lighting. Vibrant but never loud.

We cook exclusively with avocado oil, sweeten only with natural ingredients, and source our grass-fed Texas Wagyu from nearby ranches.
