This restaurant has improved to a Michelin star experience. Expensive, but an incredible meal, exceptional service, and would highly recommend a visit.

Beautiful scenery, feels like a dream. The food and service was amazing. It was a bit loud due to a large party but I still enjoyed it all. Definitely recommend and will be back.

Wendy at the host stand got us seated right away and she and Kurt were very solicitous of getting our evening started on a very positive note. Our server, Skyler, was so knowledgeable, prompt and friendly! All of the staff were wonderful and we even had fun meeting new friends at the table next to us who were also having the best time and food! We loved the drinks from the bartender, Jordan. Especially the Sweater Weather cocktail and espresso martini! Be sure to look for the daily bread specials they have at dinner because ours was so tasty and fresh! Their new gnocchi main dish and leek appetizer were among our favorites and the asparagus side dish was bursting with flavor! Their desserts not only look lovely, but they taste amazing! Especially the lemon poppy cake!

The cocktails were delicious and very creative. The ceviche and the homemade bread were also excellent. The main courses (we had the scallops and tuna) were good, but the tuna was a bit overcooked and lacked in flavor. Generally, it was a positive experience and we will be back to try other dishes.

We had a great time at Belden House. The staff was so welcoming and nice. The food was great and the dining room is so beautiful and comfortable.

Incredible dining experience. Every entrée was outstanding --Stuffed Pork Tenderloin, Peking Duck Breast, Lamb Tenderloin and Scottish Salmon. The sauces were amazing. The Spring Pea Agnolotti (as an appetizer) was to die for. You should sell the roasted carrot broth by the quart. We also enjoyed the oyster appetizer. The Flourless Chocolate Cake, Carrot Torte, and Citrus Mille-Feuille were excellent. Each dessert had great flavor and was very different from the others. All were delicious. The staff was absolutely wonderful. The service was impeccable. A perfect evening.

Great Brunch . Nice selection and very good service . It was Mother’s Day so we were there for 2-1/2 hours for party of three . Which is a little too long . Waiter did keep us informed as we waited and thanked us for being patient . Highly recommend Sunday Brunch

Market Place Tavern is the latest concept and restaurant for Market Hospitality Group (MHG). The Tavern which overlooks the Litchfield Green, is the oldest public building in town and one of the oldest penal facilities in the state. It was built in 1812 to serve as a jail for British prisoners during the War of 1812. A cell block and a three-story wing with additional cell blocks, which now is part of the restaurant’s bar area, was added in 1846. The jail closed in 1992 and was used as a treatment center for men serving prison sentences. It shut down again in 1993 and reopened in 1994 as a rehabilitation center for women facing incarceration. When that center closed, the state decided to sell it.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and features “American Tavern Food” with Craft Beers and Cocktails made with local spirits. We look forward to seeing you!

Very good service and very good food. We sat outside which was very nice - but also noisy.
