The meals consist of organic elements including grass-fed beef and pasture-raised, cage-free chickens. Local seafood options include wild Gulf shrimp, spicy Monterey squid and seared Ahi tuna, or visitors can take advantage of the raw seafood bar. Those looking for a vegetarian or vegan menu will find plenty of options available. The Slanted Door offers a family-style menu and a wide selection of desserts with an extensive bar menu to wash it all down.
Excellent lunch for our birthday celebration date.
Glorious food, great experience watching the ferries in and out, but too loud.
We used to frequent this venerable restaurant because it had fabulous food, reasonable prices and a killer view. Now, portions are pitiful, prices are out of control ($43 for 6 small chunks of shaken beef?), and the waiter cleaned the table with his hand while placing a sharp knife pointed at our guest. Still, enjoyed our old favorites, but definitely not worth it. Sigh...
Food is great, location is excellent. Only downside: Too noisy.
James our server was amazing. Had one issue with the steak being over cooked but they took It off the check without any question. I am a little upset in the fact that we used Opentable to book and in the notes stated we were celebrating an engagement. At no time did any one really take the time to acknowledge the special occasion. The food was great. The service amazing but wether or not I would personally go back is up in the air. I would highly recommend to others but for me I think they really missed an opportunity. What’s the point on putting comments if no one does anything with the information.
The service was so mediocre. Food has declined from a year ago when I last visited. The nice only thing they have going for them is the LOCATION.
The service has usually been great in the past years but this time it was pretty rough. It took about 20 minutes to get a menu and the desert menu was worse. It took 25 min just to the get desert menu and another 20 min to get the desert. It was just an ok night. And usually it is a wonderful experience. A little bit of a let down.
Excellent meal, service and fabulous view!
We love the food, the service is awesome. We hate that everyone is on top of each other.
We had high hope for this restaurant, however very disappointed, as we didn’t get the value for money: I ordered grilled rainbow trout, it was half cooked, the middle was completely raw - I don’t want to get sick! My son ordered a vegetarian noodle dish, beside spicy oil and two or three pieces of tofu skin, probably cost about $1 to make, at $18, without any nustrition value, are they joking? The appetizer, crispy veggige spring rolls was so small, again two pieces of spring rolls for $18? Overall we spent $150, we were not full and was not wowed. We will never go back. The Vietnamese Restaurant in my neighborhood would cost half but much more tasty and satisfying.
The entree’s were a little pricey. However, the food was unique and delicious.
Great place to bring visitors to SF. The building is gorgeous and the food was exceptional. We were able to share despite a wide variety of tastes and ages. The highlight was dessert w cotton candy
Underwhelmed by the food. Expected more from the ambiance. Service was just ok.
We have come here every time we have been in SF over the past 10 years and continue to love it as a truly top culinary experience! The only criticism is the noise level, which is likely due to the space, most of which is concrete. Good for a lively atmosphere, not good for conversation. Fantastic food and service!
Service was prompt with great suggestions and fast. We had a stellar experience. We would definitely go back.
Always excellent food! Been here many times over the years and never disappoints.
Great food. Would go back and try additional items.
This restaurant is one of my all time favorites but the noise level is so annoying
The food and area was amazing. It was just really loud, especially early when there was still the happy hour crowd.
Consistently good! Food comes to your table hot and delicious ( the hot part is a rarity these days).Service very good in an establishment that is always packed lunch and dinner. Highly recommended if in SF!
Has a great view of the Bay Bridge and especially good to dine as day turns to night and the Bay bridge is lit up. But other than a great waterfront view, the food is ok, service is unfriendly, menu pricey, and not great options for vegetarians. We had appetizers, drinks, and 2 entrees for 3, and the bill was $200...and we were all hungry at end of meal.
Amazing food and exceptional very knowledgeable service!
The food at Slanted Door is always outstanding; you don’t go there expecting a quiet dining experience. The patrons are friendly and the service is fast, but don’t expect a leisure meal. Still highly recommend.
A wonderful experience for a 84th birthday celebration. The greatest issue was the noise level. However the host bitted us at a table backed by a wall to help alleviate the issue. We are sure that it was helpful. The food was superb and the service flawless. Thank you for a delightful dining experience.
Great food; great service! They seated us before our friends arrived, which was really nice and unusual for an SF restaurant. Thanks.
Food was ok and the prices were a bit elevated. However, amazing dining room and the view was spectacular. :)
Loved our meals. Portions larger than expected. 2 appetizers enough for a meal.
Great food. Never rushed.
The entire ambiance of the place is amazing and the food is very good. However the service was very disconnected from a good guest experience. Definitely felt as if there was no attention to detail in the service, just a very robotic feeling the entire time. Potentially the staff had too many tables to deal with but it’s not what I expect from a restaurant that comes with a higher price tag. Ive been to other establishments in the area with a similar or even higher price tag and the overall customer service is leagues beyond what they were able to provide.
too expensive for food you go. I could get better food but I guess I am paying for the ambiance. I would not go back
Wonderful service and food! Enjoyed a mother daughter lunch date!
Would have been a food rating of 5, but noodles with crab tasted bland and soggy. Not up to par.
Loved it and can’t wait to go back.
Always wonderful; iconic Ferry Building location. Great food, service and ambience. Great cotton candy!!!!
Great ambiance and food. Nice location, great view of the Bay Bridge.
Love the food! And the service is just perfect. The food is expensive but at least the portions are large and very shareable.
The food is fabulous and lived up to reputation.
Just delightful....we love coming here with out of town guests.
The food is excellent and so is the service. My only problem with the restaurant is the noise level and the general layout of the dining room. It's a cavernous, hardscape environment with very closely-spaced tables. But the view of the Bay Bridge light installation is great, which must make it a popular destination for tourists. As well as for the many tables of well-paid tech workers . . . It's expensive but the portions are decently sized--we took leftovers home.
