What Insiders Are Saying
Fine dining that doesn't take itself too seriously. Sons & Daughters is definitely our speed.
We have been here before for excellent and wonderful evenings and will return again. The food is innovative and incredibly good; the service attentive and friendly; the breads which are part of the dinner are wonderfully original and tasty; the presentations are lovely and the food is organic and incredibly yummy. What is not to like????
Delicious food, presentation of food very creative, and excellent service
For some reason, this is another one of those places that loves to put two men in the corner, but I'm used to it now. I did NOT like the idea of not seeing a printed tasting menu in front of me, but I dealt with it. The menu is given at the end (go figure). The service was very good, but not excellent (slow at the end). The food was very good, but not excellent. If there was the traditional tasting menu presented up front with some choice and guidance of where we are going, that would help. The wine was excellent. I think they work very hard for the most part, but there were just a few hiccups. (My partner asked for another piece of their special toast; it took 15 minutes to get it.)
The service is top notch! Sons & Daughters contacted me to discuss the details of our upcoming reservation and did all they could to make it a memorable birthday celebration. They even accommodated my peanut allergy. I was very impressed with all the planning & communication that went into our evening.
Unfortunately, the food didn't measure up to the service. At first I thought it was just me...6 out of the 9 dishes were super salty. I overheard the table next us mention the salt as well and by the 3rd dish my friends agreed the salt was overpowering the flavour of the beautifully crafted dishes. I've never drank so much water at a dinner before!
I've been to a handful of Michelin Star restaurants but sadly this one seemed off. Perhaps an off night??
Absolutely fabulous!! The wine pairing is a must and brings it all to the next level.
Exceptional service from beginning to end. Julianna ensured my husband’s birthday was tastefully acknowledged and went above and beyond to meet our needs. Each course was delicious and plated beautifully.
Yet another very enjoyable evening at Sons and Daughters! Juliana and the other staff that looked after us were great. Food was delicious. Wine pairings were excellent and all wines i probably would never have heard of on my own.
The food was the weakest link for this restaurant.
The reason we went there is because the menu looked amazing. Unfortunately - even tho we really love pork belly, lamb, crab and scallops - all of those dishes were between meh and horrible (the lamb was really chewy and tasted off)
Service was great and kind, but we came for the food.
Amazing food and venue. Catered for my dietary requirements brilliantly. Highly recommend
You guys made Max’s birthday really special!
Very nice and cozy asmosphere, food is okay... not what I expected. However, the day we ate... all the taste menus dishes are little salty... not sure about one mechilin star!!!
The service was excellent and ambiance was beautiful and relaxing.
There was street parking two blocks down. Free meters after 6 pm.
We opted for the $145 pp tasting menu. Some of the food was on the salty side but overall the presentation was nice and the variety of the food was on point. The three different courses of bread was delicious.
For a special occasion, I would recommend you come and give this Michelin Star a try. Enjoy ....
Very quiet and intimate setting. Excellent choice for date night. Easy walking distance from the Omni. Service was in keeping with expectations of a michelin star restaurant. Everyone was very attentive and prosessional. We did get the wine pairing and felt the selections were spot on. Liked the scallop crudo best. Also got the caviar add on which was delicious. Pastry chef was highly rated and it was evident in the dessert
Sons and Daughters was a fabulous experience--the food, ambiance, and service were all excellent. We expected things to be pricey but the final price tag was a bit higher than the value of the experience though. Definitely worth going for a special occasion.
Excellent service and fun tasting menu with great and interesting wine pairings from Europe. Definitely reserve this for special occasions and allow time to enjoy.
Took my sweetie for his birthday. The food was excellent, but what really stood out were the wine pairings. They were SPOT ON. The wines by themselves were fine, the food by itself was of course excellent, but the two together really justified the expense of the wine pairing. It was really clear that a great deal of thought went into the decisions.
So most of the dinner we were really enjoying what was essentially an added dimension to the food that was not anticipated. Many fine restaurants do wine pairings, but here it seemed like the wines were holding hands with the foods, rather than just being appropriate but not otherwise complementary.
Definitely the two together were 4x what each was alone for the selections we enjoyed.
Unique experience, great food, & great service. I will definitely recommend this place for your special occasion.
Fantastic meal. Bold flavors. Wonderful staff.
Amazing experience. Good food and excellent service.
Outstanding meal and the wine pairing are matched beautifully.
Incredible food. We had a dungeness crab cannelloni with truffles that made my head explode :) Special night for my wife's birthday.
We had an amazing dinner. Flavors are delicate and surprising and the same time. The place is cozy, and atmosphere is relax. I will definitely come back.
Everything is perfectly prepared and could see they definitely put a lot of thoughts into it. Just don’t align with their style and vibration. I prefer things more soulful and to the depth. Sons&Daughters is very good on the eye and surface level sensations but I left without spiritual satisfaction
Good meal in relaxed surroundings.
We had a very enjoyable evening. But for a Michelin star resturant, we felt it was lacking.
It doesn't compare to all the UK Michelin star resturants we have visited.
Some of the dishes combined ingredients very poorly and the ability to taste the main ingredient was overshadowed by too many other flavors. The waitstaff was terrific and friendly and usually prompt with all courses. The sommelier was a little abrasive at times and the wines were a little bazaar and outside my comfort zone. The decor was lovely and the overall ambiance was nice. Maybe I was there on an off night.
Our experience overall was excellent.
The service was impeccable-they flowed with ease and were conscientious of not taking plates before everyone was done.
The food was creative and well portioned. They also made sure to explain the dishes ingredients and preparation.
We brought our own wine and they poured continuously.
I will definitely return.
We went to Sons the small details were paid attention to, and it showed. Highly recommend!
This is a Tasting-menu-only restaurant. I went to Sons and Daughters for my close friend’s birthday.
The day before, Someone from the restaurant called to ask about food allergies and for both our names. She said it was for our personalized menus.
When they learned that it was my friend’s birthday, they gave us two complimentary glasses of champagne (delicious).
The 9-course menu includes the
Definitely special, but compared to other similarly high priced inventive multi-course meals I've experienced, this wasn't the best. Afterwards, i felt like I could have spent same amount and had better quality michelin star level dishes elsewhere. For me, some dishes felt like the weren't quite dialed in flavor wise, but they were no doubt creative. On the good side, it was a nice interior, with great service and wine pairing. Really liked the envelope they handed you at the end of the meal, with record of all you ate that night plus wine descriptions, plus a boxed truffle salted chocolate! Really nice touch.
From first greeting to the last bite, Sons and Daughters makes you feel like family. Everything was very good, but what stood out was the service. FOH was friendly and professional and not at all snooty or pretentious like other Michelin Star restaurants *cough* Commis *cough*
The food was playful and outstanding. The crab and truffle cannelloni was MIND BLOWING. Literally had dreams about it that night.
We will be back very soon.
It's a cold Saturday night. The traffic is bad and parking is hard. Dinner is eight courses and I enjoyed five of them and not the other three. The ones I don't enjoy aren't bad. I just don't like the flavors.
My wife had pescatarian menu she didn't enjoy the change. Not only ingredient quality is lower than those on regular menu but also the flavor is no match to them either.
But still, Sons and Daughters has its merit. And, whoever hasn't visited it yet could plan for it.
Excellent service and terrific food. Exactly what we hoped to find on our trip to San Francisco. Highly recommend
Outstanding dinner, tasting menu, attentive service with incredible chef’s creations. I’ll be back next trip to San Fran.we had 4 dinners during our trip, all at outstanding restaurants. This stands head and shoulders above the others.
Flawless in every way.
Excellent fixed-menu dinner in an intimate setting. Top-notch service. Romantic, high-quality dining without being over the top. A few real show-stopper courses. Loved it!
Perfect place for a lingering romantic dinner with my partner!
We had a fabulous 8 course meal with an extra amuse course, a palette cleanser course and truffle chocolates packaged to take home. The food was creative, unusual, artfully displayed and delicious. Some of us included the wine pairings that were perfectly matched to the flavors of the various courses. It's a small quiet restaurant so call at least a month ahead, but well worth the slightly hefty price.
We had the best time, the food was excellent and the staff was awesome, thank you so much!
