The restaurant got VERY loud between our 6:15 pm arrival and our roughly 8:15 pm departure. There are no California wines on the list—their choice but a little disappointing for one of the guests. Biggest problem of the night: NO ESPRESSO. C’mon, people, it’s 2020. Not that hard to get an espresso machine, and it really promotes dessert orders. The cold brew coffee, by the way, was pretty bad. Inquiries as to the lack of California wine (I know, not their problem) and espresso elicited server responses bordering on snippy.
I accidentally booked a reservation 1 week in advance of the evening the 3 of us showed up. The hostess worked hard to accommodate the 3 of us and she seated us at a good spot at the bar after a brief 20 minute wait. The food can best be described as "new American" rather than French and it is tasty. Great wine list and cocktails as well. Highly recommend Sycamore, especially the bar area.
Very clean and inviting rustic premises. The service was very friendly and efficient. Connor made us feel very welcome and always available without being intrusive. The food was very tasty with proper portions, not to little and not overwhelming. The bartender provided delicious drinks. Overall it was a very pleasant experience to dine and relax at Sycamore.
We read about this place as a great “local” restaurant in the Boston suburbs and it certainly is. A wonderful little place with exposed brick walls and steel beams. Cozy bar and a pro as a bartender. Staff could not have been more polite or friendly. Had a venison tenderloin that was cooked at a spot on medium rare! We’re a couple of hours away (we were on our way to the airport) but we are certainly try to get back there. Thank you Sycamore for a nice evening.
I had been hearing about Sycamore for a while, and decided to take a team out for an important business dinner. Everyone came away happy, impressed, completely stuffed, and with good feelings. The service was attentive and the server knowledgeable about special diets and ingredients, as well. Finally - the food - fresh, creative, exploding with flavor. We'll be back!
Another great dinner at Sycamore. They let us change to a different table when my husband didn't like the one we were given and our waiter was great. Steered me to a pasta dish I wouldn't have picked otherwise which was delicious!

Sycamore never disappoints. The cocktails are always delicious and creative. If you are the least bit adventurous, try the" Syc Picks", which leaves the entire choice of courses to the chef(s). Make sure to save room for their beignets - they're the perfect end to any meal.
Everything was great as always except it was too hot in the room which actually was true last time we were in. But the food is so wonderful it makes it worth being hot.

Was pleasantly surprised how great this place is, in the suburbs of Boston (I'm from New York, so I apologize if that is not geographically correct.) Anyway, Sycamore is a really nice place to dine. I like the bar menu very much, I had a great cocktail that was a riff on a Manhattan with a smoked rhubarb liqueur thrown in. Excellent. My entree, which was a braised short ribs was excellent. My guest had the agnolotti, which he said was excellent as well, which is impressive since my guest has lived in Italy. I would like to go back just to sit at the bar and try some more cocktails, which were obviously crafted with care.
One of the best meals I/we have had - ever! Take it from folks who've dined in great local, small " red sauce" and burger establishments to places like Per Se... these people put their heart and imagination into what they do and it tastes great. Great all-around experience.

Wine was very good. Food was really just mediocre, small portions, very expensive, I was surprised given good reviews and previous meals there.
Outstanding! Creative amazingly delicious dishes- truly impressive. Everything we tried would fall in top 5 categories for our lifetime of dining (and we are frequent restaurant diners up and down the east coast). Cozy ambiance, attentive and friendly service- plus servers very knowledgeable about the dishes down to the sourcing info. Can't miss, must try, can't say enough how pleased and impressed we were.

A perfect experience. A warm welcome, friendly and engaging staff, cozy and nicely designed space and food that knocked our socks off! Such great care went into the preparation of our meal, we could taste it in every bite. We are big fans of locally sourced, thoughtfully prepared food with a creative spin on seasonal ingredients and the Sycamore team went all the way. We would eat there again in a heartbeat and urge diners to get to Chestnut Hill to experience it for yourselves. High marks all around. Thank you!

For all the dishes we had, none quite came together. This is very unusual for our experience at Sycamore. I've always appreciated the creativity in composing each dish, but this time, it just didn't work. We will be back, based on our long history here, not on this singular experience. Service was exemplary, as usual.

I have returned multiple times to Sycamore. I've even had a bad experience but this time was fantastic. The food, the service - all good. It can be noisy at Sycamore but not this time
The menu was well varied and offered not the usual fare. The space is small and tables close together creating a rather noisy space but delicious food makes up for this.

We were quickly seated and once we ordered, the food was brought out promptly. The bread was delectable and the hot, roasted cauliflower appetizer, tasty with a flavorful sauce. My citrus salad was nothing short of superb! My husband thought his carrot tagine was pretty good but the carrots were lacking in flavor. My Catalan seafood stew was very good and filling with a generous amount of seafood. With barely room for dessert, I ordered the beignets with a caramel dunking sauce and managed to eat two (of the six) of them. I can tell you they were wildly good! The wait staff were friendly and smiling and available. All in all a tasty and fun dining experience.
The service was really good. It's a rather discrete place and therefore the attention is nice and prompt, and you can actually listen to your date -my lovely wife-. The food was really good. We tried 5 different items, mostly new flavors to our palates, as we like to explore new things. Smooth combinations of fruity and creamy experiences overall. We went there to celebrate our anniversary and I was certain we made a great choice. They also gave us a complimentary sparkling brut that was actually really tasty and refreshing. At the end, they also pampered us with some beignettes and dulce de leche. We left the place with a great smile to our faces. Highly recommended. Now you should try.
Sycamore is reliably awesome. The food is really world class - on this visit, the wow items were the chestnut and porcini soup (incredible depth of flavor), winter citrus salad (I recently had a dish by the same name in a top-rated South End restaurant and there is no comparison), and raviolo al'uovo with forest mushrooms.
The people, the service, and the ambience are also great, and the constantly changing menu of amazing food keeps us coming back more often than we should admit!
Sycamore is consistently excellent, no question. After many meals over the years, usually sat at the bar, we have yet to be disappointed. We are always welcomed as friends and feel like we are getting special treatment - I think most will probably think they are also getting this kind of service. Whatever I choose, Scott will help me pair with a wine - or if I choose a wine, he'll help me pair the food! :).

Lovely staff, cocktails, and food. Bit drafty and noisy, but lovely exposed brick and vegetarian options. Always made to feel like a valued customer.
Sycamore is a local treasure. The staff know us by name after only one visit. The food is exquisite and the cocktails are surprising and almost witty. I recommend sitting and eating right at the bar with the literal best bartenders in Boston. It's my most favorite restaurant in and out of Boston. Great for date night - or bring just yourself and chat with a great crowd.
The food was well-prepared and tasty, but didn't quite measure up to the expectations created by the menu descriptions. Service was extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine list, but we found the bon hommmie with which it was delivered a little weird. The general hospitality was off -- we didn't really feel welcome. There are better choices in this price range.
We were so glad that there was Duck board on the menu. We always hope for that every time we plan to eat at Sycamore. We enjoyed it very much. We will bring our friend within the next week or so to have the Duck board if there is a reservation available.

My wife and dined at Sycamore last night. It was our 3rd time in a few months. The entire experience was exceptional! It's a 12 on a 1-10 scale. The incredible service we enjoyed, the unexpected wine tasting, the food, all 10s!!!!!
Beautiful experience from the warm hostess/manager to the delicious wine options to the well executed, rustic, seasonal fare. Sycamore is the epitome of a neighborhood restaurant. I wish I lived within walking distance.
