Magical is a word thrown around a lot when discussing Tavern On The Green and one can’t help but feel magic in the air. Jim and David, architect Richard Lewis and landscape architect Robin Key, preserved the Victorian/ Gothic elegance of the semi-circular building; it is authentic, natural, elegant and sexy. It has been re-built to spectacular precision and the décor is of a grand farmhouse one might find on the property of an Italian Villa or a historic Hudson River Valley mansion.

Dress Code: Smart Casual. Jacket and Tie are Not Required.

    This was the perfect lunch spot after a walk through Central Park. I had the salmon and my friend had the chicken and it was delicious. The employees were incredible and they went above and beyond. Loved it!

    The last time I was to the Tavern on the Green was over 25 years ago, which was for a Christmas Party. Prior to that I had been to dinner with clients there many times, Since that time a new job, not being into the city for a while, etc. it was my wife's birthday, and on her bucket list to eat there and Tavern on the Green did not let me down! They were on point with the reservation times, each coarse was better then the next and the service excellent. I would truly recommend if you haven't been there take the opportunity, you won't be disappointed!

    I had the salmon - most expensive dish on the menu. It was thin, pan seared, and heavy on the oil. My friend had pizza which was tough. We had made a reservation bc live jazz was scheduled. It was canceled due to yesterday’s rain, but no one alerted us. Overall, the whole dining experience was disappointing.

    Love this place! Very friendly and accommodating staff. Went out of their way with adding 2 additional people to our reservation even though they were extremely busy with a private event.

    The service is second to none, the food was excellent and if you sit in the atrium the views surrounded by glass are lovely , the downside to the atrium is the noise levels are much higher so not so easy to converse,but you can sit in the other room which is much quieter. It's a small trade off. Our server was lovely , attentive but not over the top , definitely a brunch spot worth visiting!

    We were in the city during the flood warnings. It was a very welcome respite in the midst of a wet day. We asked for help getting a cab to our next destination, but were told we’d do better with Uber - Uber drivers were NOT available. We had to walk in the rain. You should still have some way of summoning a cab for visitors.

    My mother loves this place and it made her very happy to have lunch here while on a short trip to Manhattan.. But geez.. so overpriced!! One 4 inch crab cake was 28.00 ! Wine by the glass (6-7 oz) is 16.00 You gotta be prepared to drop a lot for a little — and just enjoy the ambiance.

    Having been here several times in years past, this experience was lacking, mostly because of being seated near the open kitchen and the high noise level. Out table was jammed next to another with just inches between to maneuver in and out. All in all, a disappointing evening with friends.

    Perfection. Every single staff person in every role - from the moment we arrived to the moment we exited - treated us like we were the most important customers in the restaurant. The food was delicious. A truly delightful experience.

    Absolutely stunning location and so relaxing. Felt the staff was undereducated on the food. Could not describe items on the menu. I wanted the vegetarian plate waiter could not tell me what vegetables were on it. He say multi grain- it wasn’t. On the special my sons ordered his description was so off the mark on what the kitchen sent out. If the staff can’t describe the food add the details to your menu and print out specials.

    Your wait staff, talent that seems to be weakening throughout the greater NY Area, is really good. . Kitchen is, as expected, excellent! Reception/seating lacks professionalism. Bar service is standard.

    The food choices, services and taste were absolutely delicious, my only slight annoyance was the low lighting at the table. I would recommend a visit to this wonderful place and I will also be going back int he daylight to see a different side of it.

    We had a great experience from start to finish. My wife and I have had this on our list of experiences for years. We went last night for her birthday and they did not disappoint. From the greeting at the door wishing her happy birthday, to the birthday card, a great server, the meal/ drinks and birthday cake for dessert it was a great experience overall. It was refreshing to go to a place that still values making special occasions special.

    Tavern on the Green met all our expectations! The food was fabulous! Our waiter Jeremy at Park Room table 163 was so friendly and helpful! We were celebrating a birthday and he set up a beautiful cake plate for the birthday girl. Everyone employee we encountered was very friendly , professional.and courteous. I highly recommend Tavern on the Green as a must when you visit New York City!

    Lovely. Just go. You will not be disappointed. Had a bottle of rose, my daughter had delicious burger and shrimp cocktail, and I had chicken sandwich and the setting is beautiful, fun and easy going. Delicious fun and relaxing lunch.

    The service was amazing. The hostess ushered us to a table of our choice in the dining area. The music made the ambiance all the more pleasant and peaceful. Our waiter was friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was delicious, although we had to order bar food because the restaurant menu was too pricey. Overall, I highly recommend Tavern on the Green. I have been there other times in the lounge area. The live Jazz band they have on stage is simply phenomenal.

    Took our daughters for a 16th birthday brunch. They were treated like queens. The restaurant made it a very special experience for them. Our main negative comments: 1) there were some very rude guests at the next table doing a group video call for the entire restaurant to hear. Management did not ask them to stop. 2) they had a Vegan code on the brunch menu, but no items that were Vegan. Vegan always works for my sons food allergies, so we had a hard time selecting food for him, but they did the best they could and he safely ate with us.

    We have always wanted to eat here and it was a wonderful experience. It is beautiful, relaxing and the sevice was exceptional. I had yogurt, granola and berries. I have never seen such big, tasty berries. So good.

    Fig appetizer and crab cocktail were both really, really good. Beef short ribs were also really good, - the mashed potatoes with them were only okay…the polenta that came with the lamb chops was much better. The staff was friendly…a few service errors (minor) but we had a beautiful table and really enjoyed the meal overall.

    We recently moved to the area and had to try it! It was much better than expected with drinks, food, service, etc! Thought it would be touristy and cheesy but not at all. Will definitely be back!

    Good food. Good service. Outdoor dining in magnificent Central Park on a beautiful late September afternoon, among folks aware of the Tavern's iconic status and happy to be there with Louie the Cockapoo (sp?)/Poodle half hidden in his stroller at the friendly nearby table. Great way to treat jet lag after the flight from Zurich the day before, sipping a delicious Manhattan in Manhattan.
