    I’m transitioning out of the Marines soon and I wanted to take my girlfriend out to a special place to celebrate. I am blessed to have found this place when I went searching. It was an unforgettable experience. The people, the live music, the atmosphere, and everything else came together to make what I will now remember for the rest of my life as an amazing date. If you’re reading this and are looking for a place to unwind for dinner. This is the place!

    Dining at the Prime Rib is an experience that is worth the price. The atmosphere is old-school elegance but is not stuffy or pretentious. We ate there the first time we visited DC as a couple in 1998, and things have not changed much since then, which is a good thing. The food was excellent and perfectly cooked to the requested temperature, and the portions are large. Jose was our server, and he was very amiable and attentive. It was my wife's birthday, and she got a complementary creme brulee. It was the most expensive meal we have ever eaten (over $300 including gratuity and with both of us drinking water), but I got the larger prime rib at market price, which added about $60 to the total. For the combination of excellent food, generous portion size, first class service, and elegant atmosphere, it was a reasonable price.

    Prime rib was extremely gamy. Way overpriced. Extremely letdown and disappointed. Much better prime rib at other places like J Alexander that don’t even emphasize on prime rib. The chicken entrée should be off the menu effective immediately. I cannot imagine The combinations on that plate would not entice any pallet.  Again, was looking forward to the prime rib at the moment I came to DC, and was extremely let down.

    This is a nice place for a specialty dinner…we were celebrating a dedication for a relative. Be prepared for the cost as everything is ’ala cart’ and premium priced. The waitstaff is very attentive and friendly but a little in a rush, maybe it was the later hour. The main servings are generous and perfectly cooked. The baked potatoes are perfect and the steamed asparagus is crunchy. The artichoke hearts looked delicious but were just not edible. The side salad is plain and overpriced. The desserts are simply delightful. The pianist was wonderfully talented and the music choices are classic themes with interesting jazzy interjections. Just right volumes to maintain pleasant conversation. Overall an upscale dining experience but no valet and expensive for those who do not write off the bill.

    Hands down my favorite place in DC! The atmosphere is so iconic with a piano player as your evening entertainment. The prime rib is to die for as well as the apple pie. The restaurant is very intimate therefore loud conversations isn’t ideal.

    I'm not sure when The Prime Rib started to allow non-collared T-Shirts and Jeans for the dress code, but it certainly ruins the feel of this long time favorite. The food was just alright and the signature prime rib lacked in flavor

    Larry Braeman runs a fine dining room. From the initial greeting to the final goodbye of the evening, he makes his guests, whom he always addresses by name correctly, feel valued and appreciated.

    The service was excellent, especially our wonderful server. Only complaint would be that the grilled artichoke hearts were sauteed and not grilled. We missed the charred marks and flavor.

    It's the old school steakhouse experience. Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was impeccable. The cocktails are fabulous. We ordered Old Fashions and the were 10/10. Must go.
