   We booked a table just before sunset and the view was incredible. All three entrees were delicious and I will definitely be back when I return to San Diego.

   I hadn't been to The Shores in at least 5 years and was surprised to find that the menu is focused on Mexican cuisine instead of seafood. Once I got over the surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed the lobster tacos and watermelon salad. Our waitress, Margarita, was phenomenal, very attentive and able to make great recommendations when asked. The view of the beach is great, making the ambiance one of the highlights of the evening. We were celebrating 2 birthdays, and 2 anniversaries, and we felt very welcomed and celebrated by the staff.

   Server was kind, but the kitchen appeared to be overwhelmed. Our food order was slow to arrive at about 45 minutes later as the server explained all orders came in at the same time. Food flavor was decent. View of La Jolla Shores was great.

   This entire experience was great! We had just flown in that day and were all super hungry so walked to the restaurant from our hotel near by and they were able to seat us early in a great spot on the outside patio. The entire staff were so kind and we never felt rushed. Our son had refills on his soda before he even had to ask. The food was all delicious and we all enjoyed our meals! On top of it all, the views from this patio are spectacular! You are literally a sidewalk away from the sand on La Jolla Shores! Highly recommend this restaurant!

   For some reason my watermelon salad came without ANY dressing or pepitas, but the waitstaff was very helpful, even if they did question whether I was correct in my assessment, they brought me a container of dressing and a tiny bowl with pepitas. My husband’s huevos rancheros was very good. My blueberry muffin was warmed, but had not so many blueberries it was quite small for the charge, and the butter that I asked for when it was served without any, was whipped, so it looked like it was enough, but it turned out to be a very tiny pat… and even though I needed more, I felt as if I had asked for so much of the waiter by then,that it was just more than I should ask for. The waiters were very nice though, which is why I gave the service such a high rating.

    We went for Sunday breakfast at 9am on July 31, and sat outside on the beach/boardwalk level. There was a lot of beach activity with groups being trained for kayaking, snorkeling etc. but it was far enough away from the restaurant that it was not a bother. The boardwalk which is right next to the restaurant was not that busy and made for interesting people and dog watching. We liked that we were on real grass, but it was quite sparse and dead in areas so they should fix that so it does not look so shabby. We were not guests at the hotel and had a tough time finding parking because the hotel lot had a sign saying it was full so we drove around for 10 minutes but could not find any spaces and decided to drive into the hotel lot anyway and found a space despite the sign. The food was very good, service was fine. We would go back.

    We love the restaurant at the Shores. However, with the new menu very Baja Mexican, we now find we can't go there as off. Very heavy on the spice, beans and rice. Would love for it to have a combo of their previous menu that was popular for years. I'm pretty sure guests staying there are heading down to Piatti's after their first dinner at the Shores. Not like you can eat that two nights in a row.

    Husband’s birthday celebration he wanted a nice family dinner. Best place ever to create this memory. Great food, service, ambiance and most beautiful beach front view. We all really enjoyed our evening!

    It was my birthday lunch with my husband. I listed it was my birthday on my reservation. I mentioned it again when we checked in with the hostess. Not one person ever mentioned it to me the whole time we were there! We went for lunch since their website says “lunch served daily (in addition to brunch). Well, their website is NOT CORRECT. The photos on the website are NOT CORRECT. Such a big disappointment. My brunch was horrible, our waiter was horrible, but my husband liked his brunch.

    Well apart from trying to kill me it was all very mediocre. We were eating dinner with family from England so we wanted a nice beach view which we got. I did tell the server Margarite that I had an allergy to avocado so no avo or guacamole on any of my food! They achieved this with the appetizers so I was therefore confident they had understood. After taking one bite of my lobster tacos I realized I had taken a big bite of guacamole. Definitely not an experience I want to repeat. The manager did apologize and said he would not charge us for my meal. We had to have all our meals boxed up and leave rapidly to get me medical attention! They still charged us full price for my dinner. Plus my nephew was very ill too, so think hard before eating here as the food handling standards appear to be very low.

    Always a good time at the Shores Hotel. Lovely Menu. Great staff. Flexible with changes to your order. Steps to the beach. Love tgis for sprcial occasions or just spending quality time near the sand and ocean. Magical La Jolla Shores!

    Quesadilla was way too salty as was the Mussels broth. We ate them because we were hungry but we will ask for all food to be less salty next time and turn them back if they are as bad as they were last night. Don’t chefs taste their own creations?

    I went there with my husband a couple times and we always had good services an food. This time i went there alone and the service was terrible! They did not even check on me, ask me if I wanted dessert! They just drop the bill when I finish my dish without even asking me! Did I got bad services because I was alone?

    A typical hotel restaurant, overly priced, mediocre food quality, and long wait for guests. The evening I was there the manager was putting fires out at several tables. We never had refills on water or asked about second drinks. One meal at our table was forgotten, and the food was just o-kay. The kitchen was extremely skimpy on steak inside of the 2 orders of quesadillas l, one piece for each triangle, my wife had carne asada fries to share and it was the large for $26, it was on a 10" plate, and their were 3 small pieces of meat stuck under the guacamole, Pico, etc... we did send it back. It was a nice view on the beach, but completely lacking for delicious food and quality. Unfortunately, the moms and pop restaurants on the street deliver the unique quality rather than the hotel.

    Food is delicious as always. There are a couple areas of the hotel that you can tell could be remodeled, like where there are broken tile, and at the time, the restroom could have been cleaner, but overall a very positive experience, as always.

    The hostess put us in the quietest spot in the entire place when the outside was fully open and would have been a way better place to be seated. The waiter spilled a drink on one of the guest with me. Just was not I was hoping to celebrate a birthday

    I'd recommend this place only if you don't mind overpaying for a great view of the ocean/sunset. The menu is small and everything -- like everything, even the drinks and kid's menu items -- are quite overpriced, but the food was good, our server was great, and the view was lovely.

    My husband and I had a delicious breakfast here. We sat at a table directly facing the beach, with a clear glass screen in front of us-- we almost couldn't tell there was a glass plate in front of us because it was so clear. The servers were attentive and helpful but not intrusive. Other staff were very nice too. I had the omelette -- it was not a combo I would normally try but I am very happy I did. The hash brown potatoes are fabulous (I usually do not eat the potatoes at other restaurants). The location is fantastic, the staff are lovely, the price is similar to other good restaurants in the area, and the food is delicious. We couldn't have asked for a better breakfast on the day we were leaving La Jolla.

    Nice place but the manager asked us to leave because there was another party coming in and they needed the table while we were having after brunch drinks. We had a reservation as well with open table. There were other tables around that could accommodate the incoming party. We were not loud and we were just enjoying the afternoon. After a 500 dollar bill, it was tasteless and rude. We will not go back.

    Beautiful views and location, but food is way overpriced for what you get. Also, parking is horrible on weekends!! In addition, we were there for dinner starting at like 6:15 and the sun was so bright in the dining room and they have no shades on the windows so I had sun in my face during the entire meal.
