Best Greek Restaurants in Balmain

First went to Diethnes Greek Restaurant in 1978 when my office was close by. Over the years have been back many times, When I saw they were closing I couldn't miss the opportunity to go one last time. As always food, services were top class.

Food Quality was Outstanding. Service Outstanding (warm and friendly) Will certainly be back.

We had a truly lovely afternoon by the water - the kind of long, relaxed lunch that feels like a little escape from everything. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, easygoing, and perfect for a sunny sit-down. The owner was an absolute standout - genuinely lovely, very welcoming, and funny, which added such a personal touch to the whole experience and made the visit feel really special. The cocktails were a highlight: creative, different, and absolutely delicious. Not your standard offerings at all - each one felt thoughtfully made and a bit unique, which made them really fun to work through across the afternoon. The food was just as enjoyable - fresh, tasty, and full of flavour, with that classic Mediterranean feel that works so well for sharing and grazing. Everything we tried was simple in the best way: well-executed, satisfying, and perfect for a long lunch in the sun. Overall, a fantastic experience with great hospitality, great drinks, and really enjoyable food. A perfect spot for a relaxed afternoon with friends, and we’re very glad we came. We’ll definitely be back.
