Founder Susan Kaufman was originally inspired by her love-affair with the small plates, or “cicchetti,” she discovered at Venetian tapas bars. As she traveled extensively throughout the Mediterranean, she found a unifying thread in both the flavors and atmospheres of the casual and warm eating environments she frequented. Determined to bring the essence of all of these cultures and flavors home, she launched Cicchetti Kitchen + Bar in November of 2009. Respecting the unique Seattle architectural gem designed by George Suyama, she transformed the décor into a modern, convivial space that reflects a traditional Venetian aesthetic with a distinct Northwest attitude. The rest is history.

I had such a wonderful experience at Grappa I could only describe it as the perfect dinner. I had a reservation and was seated quickly by the lovely host at a table in its own little pocket of the restaurant by the window. Our server was great and answered all of my questions about the ingredients of each dish, as I have a dietary restriction, and the bartender, Sayler, made us divine cocktails. We both ordered steak and it was cooked to perfection, striking balance between sear, salt, and tenderness. It was very delicious combined with the acidity of the lemon oregano dressing on the broccolini. The server who brought us our food was so friendly and made sure we were enjoying our time. Absolutely amazing experience at Grappa, will definitely be returning!
