    This is not a destination 5* - a River Cafe or whatever - but it's a super spot for locals or passers-through who need somewhere to stop. Good Persian and very good Afghani food - and excellent drinks. Everyone in a party of 8 wanted to do again.

    I went to Naroon with my daughter for my birthday. We are both vegetarian, so I was looking forward to trying their veggie offerings. We ordered a delicious flat bread; olives that were smothered in such a softly perfumed paste; a gorgeous deep smokey aubergine and herb salad. We over estimated how much to order, by the time the main course came we were too full to do it any justice (lol). I ordered the tender, mouthwatering okra stew and rice. My daughter had a saffron rice cake, which looked a yellow brick. Everything was very good. We had to take the mains to go;). The staff surprised me with a birthday serenade and chocolate brownie that was moist and rich and very satisfying.
