The food is fantastic, the cocktails are on point, and the service is genuinely warm and attentive, exactly what you want from a top-tier restaurant. My one ongoing frustration is the dress code enforcement. The reminders feel excessive, and on one occasion a guest of mine was actually given a hard time over her choice of footwear. In this day and age, that kind of rigidity can put a real damper on an otherwise stellar evening. That said, Beefbar gets so much right, from the quality of the food to the friendly, lively atmosphere and for now remains one of my go-to spots. We were a bit overwhelmed by the volume of food. In a world where less is more, Lucky's shows the diner what more really is...the mountain of Onion rings is an excellent example of thinking one is going to get a small portion of onion rings as an appetizer, then the mountain of perfectly cooked rings comes out, and the dining extravaganza begins.
