Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields. Its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate translated into an abundance of fresh produce as well as treasured seafood and game. Legend tells that Kokkari is the site where Orion, a mighty hunter and a young man of gigantic stature and great beauty, fell in love with the daughter of the king of Chios. For the love of her, Orion forged the island for wild game and seafood to prepare elaborate banquets in celebration of their love. Today, we hope you will enjoy your own celebration as you dine at Kokkari Estiatorio on food “fit for the Gods” prepared with an Aegean palate and the style of innovative California fare.

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday and had the best experience. I don’t remember our waiters name but he was so attentive making sure everything was perfect the whole time. They sat us close to the water and even took a Polaroid of us to remember the night. Such a special touch. I already loved La Mar but I love it even more now.

Our first time there today, and it's now our new FAVORTIE restaurant in the East Bay!! Everything was outstanding, from the time we walked in the door to a cheerful and friendly welcome, to our wonderful waiter, Eddie, who gave us the best recommendations, to the oh-so-delicious food!! I'd decided to treat my husband to a nice lunch, since we'd cancelled our Half Moon Bay golf outing today due to weather. Husband's verdict: EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS (My verdict: SAME!!!) Appetizer: Carpaccio Cocktail: Delicious, strong, can't remember the name, but I do recommend their drinks! Entrees: Outstanding and oh-so-tasty! Wine: Chimney Rock Cabernet Sauvignon -- highly reccomend and went beautifully with our entrees. Dessert: Salted Carmel Budino -- oh my -- my new favorite dessert, even more so than tiramisu, imagine something so wonderful! Finished off with Cappucino for me, Doppio Espresso for the Little Man....lol...What a thoroughly enjoyable meal from beginning to end. We'll be back for sure and bringing friends with us next time!!! So glad we discovered North Italia, you will be too!
