From the outside, it may not have much curb appeal, but the moment you walk through the doors, you are transported into a lovely little bistro in France. The menu is surprisingly extensive for such a small space, and the wine selection is beautifully old-world French and plentiful. Personally, I am not very familiar with French wines, but every person at Authentique seems to be a sommelier in their own right and is wonderful at guiding you toward something that fits your personal palate. The food selection felt authentically French as well — cheeses, crêpes, Croque Monsieur, Croque Madame, and more. We only stopped in for a drink before another dinner reservation, but after ordering the olives and truffle butter with the bread basket, we cannot wait to return for the full dining experience. One of the best parts of Authentique is that it is cozy, intimate, and actually conducive to conversation and enjoying time with friends — something that feels increasingly rare in Nashville, where so many restaurants are huge, cavernous, and so loud that conversation becomes a distraction instead of part of the experience. The atmosphere is relaxed and approachable, where casual dress feels completely appropriate, yet the experience still feels special and elevated. It is also moderately priced for the quality and overall experience, which makes it even more charming. Authentique feels thoughtful, charming, and refreshingly unpretentious — exactly the kind of locally owned place Nashville needs more of.More infoThe Authentique$$$$• Wine Bar• East Nashville•5
