Perfect date spot. We were seated quickly. My lady loved eating her first oysters. Tim was attentive and knowledgeable. I even jokingly convinced Tom to take a picture of us out on the beautiful patio overlooking the Appomattox & James River. We will definitely to eat, but also when it’s cooler, we plan to go for drinks out on the patio at the end of the bar top.

We had dinner at Can Can Brasserie in Carytown on Friday and it was outstanding. It had been several years since we visited; the cool European vibe and good food made it a great evening. We started with cocktail shrimp, baked brie, and a couple of drinks from the bar. My wife loved the espresso martini. For dinner, we chose the Boeuf Bourguignon and Pan-Roasted Halibut, both perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The highlight of the evening was our server, Okalani. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the wine list and menu, and attentive without ever being intrusive. Her recommendation of a Juliénas red wine paired beautifully with both entrées and made the meal even more memorable. This dinner reminded us why Can Can remains a favorite.
