About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Good for groups
  • Neighborhood gem
Blue Ribbon Brasserie is built on the vision that originated over 30 years ago in New York City's SoHo at the legendary original Blue Ribbon, well known as the restaurant "where chefs go to eat." Blue Ribbon is also famously ready to serve here in Boston!

The space is highlighted by a 70-foot white Carrera marble bar, an oyster bar, and a 16-seat private dining room. The soaring interior has been designed as a collection of intimate dining spaces featuring cozy leather banquettes, shaded table lamps and bistro tables, and a light-filled solarium with floor-to-ceiling windows that look out into the neighborhood and beckon inside the Boston community and visitors alike.

This was our first time here and we were very pleased. The service was friendly and attentive, starting from the hostess and ending with our waiter. The food options and quality were great. The only issue was that they were out of one of the daily specials despite a 5:30 reservation. All in all, I would highly recommend Blue Ribbon Brasserie and will return again when we are in the Fenway area.

I don't like to give poor reviews, but I could only give this place 3 stars. We were excited to try this restaurant before attending a concert. We were greeted and seated immediately. Restaurant wasn't too busy and were able to carry on a casual conversation. We arrived hungry in anticipation of a great meal. Service was slow and the waitress never smiled (maybe she had something heavy on her mind, but she appeared that she'd rather be anyplace but where she was). We had to ask several times before we finally received rolls and butter. Food was "OK". My Watercress and Blue Cheese salad was underwhelming and dressing was bland (salad came with a very sparce amount of blue cheese). My husband had the French Onion Soup (he said it smelled and tasty fishy). Our dinners were good, but far from great. My filet was cooked perfectly, but the au poivre sauce was just a watered-down brown gravy and the mashed potatoes were over-whipped and pasty. My husband's Fish and Chips looked great, but he said wasn't anything he'd crave to have again. Dessert offerings were slim and consisted mostly of a variety of ice cream. We got the Banana Split to share and it was actually the best part of our meal. As the room filled with other diners, the noise level made it difficult to carry on a conversation. The prices are what you would expect to pay for a "nicer" restaurant in this area, but the food and service need to be improved upon. Sorry BRB - we really wanted to love it!

It was our anniversary. We were really looking forward to a wonderful experience. Contrarily, it was a terrible experience. We were not welcomed gracefully, no congratulations extended, the server was very unaccommodating. We were just disappointed with the overall experience.

Very Nice atmosphere and service was very good. We found the food to be good but necessarily memorable.. However, the food was good enough that we wouldn't hesitate to try something else on the menu at some point. Sorta like an upgraded Diner... a go to when needed.

The food was excellent! The servers, Alex and Damary were both friendly and proficient. The hostesses were also very helpful. The location was very convenient as it was right near the Hotel Commonwealth which is where we were staying. We are sure to book dinner there again on our next trip to Boston.

I will not be back. Pre-Red Sox brunch was remarkably uncrowded and there may be a reason why. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and the poached eggs and home fries came to the table completely cold. I sent them back and remarkably the eggs arrived again cold (the home fries were warm). The manager comped my meal but I was not there for a free meal but a nice experience before the Red Sox game. The manager blamed being "slammed" by the unexpected crowd but it really was not that crowded in the restaurant and I would have thought some pre-game crowd before a prime Sox-Dodgers game would have put them on alert. Note I'm not a restaurant whiner. I've eaten out literally thousands of times over the past 50 years and have probably sent about a dozen meals back to the kitchen. This was the first time ever the reboot was still bad. As they say, once fooled "shame on you, " but there will not be as second chance.
