The Escoffier is named after the celebrated chef, Auguste Escoffier, who was one of the founders of the culinary and hospitality school at the Westminster Centre of Capital City College. The dishes prepared for the Escoffier follow the principles of Auguste Escoffier, combined with modern techniques and presentation. The weekly changing menu theme is designed, tested, and cooked by college third-year students using seasonal local ingredients and from across the world.

At the front-of-house, second-year college students are trained in the food and drinks service techniques that one would expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant. Students follow the criteria set by the awarding organisation City & Guilds in helping them achieve the skills required to be a waiter, runner, sommelier, barista, and host.

The Le Gavroche experience at the Vincent rooms was exceptionally good. On arrival each place setting had the original plates and menu cover from the 1967 opening plus a card on the history of the restaurant (opened by the chefs Albert and Michel Roux Snr in Mayfair 1967-2004). At the time it was the only French restaurant of its kind in London - offering the very best of classical French food with the highest standards of cooking and service. The Vincent Rooms food and experience did the original restaurant pround and thats a credit to the staff and students.

The Gavroche menu was superb including outstanding lamb, perfectly cooked, all dishes presented beautifully and delicious The front of house were friendly and professional and the dining room perfectly lit and comfortable. One of my all time top 10 dining experiences !

One of my favourite places to eat! The students are so talented and it’s a joy to see them develop and progress. As we’ve been so many times they and their teacher recognise and greet me by name and with genuine warmth. Wonderful!

We attended the special La Gavaroche lunch and were not disappointed. Food was just like the restaurant (when it was open). Presentation, flavour and service magnificent. The cheese course was excellent. I’m so glad the legacy of the restaurant lives on .

Food was excellent and our server was very polite and helpful keeping us informed when the kitchen was backed up. It was a bit rushed towards the end of the meal but still an excellent lunch. The sommelier was also very good.

Fantastic lunch. An homage to Gary Rhodes was sensational. All the favourate flavours of Gary. It was a taste sensation. The pairing wines were delicious. I'm sure Gary was looking down with approval
