The word “moona” or “mouneh” in slang comes from the Arabic word mana or ma'oona, meaning "storing." In other words, it’s the English equivalent of "the pantry". In the past, especially in remote villages in the Arab World, the moona was prepared during the bountiful harvest for consumption during winter's harsh days, providing fundamental nourishment for the daily meal, having transformed perishable produce into food with a long shelf life: foods such as olives, pickles, preserved lemons, cheese, spices, herbs, jams, etc.

Moona or Mouneh, slang for the Arabic word meaning “storing” or “pantry". ‍Here at Moona, we believe in letting the pantry speak for itself: the spices, olive oils, tahini, molasses, house-pickled vegetables, olives, and more. Our food is an expression of love of the neighborhood pantry that provides the basis of our exceptional, Middle Eastern mezze style menu, featuring traditional dishes with our own Moona personal stamp. We encourage our guests to break bread, be mindful, and share in the dining experience sensorily together. Let us welcome you into our Mouneh and express our passion for neighborhood casual fine dining hospitality.

Moona is highly regarded for a reason! Happy to see the new location retains the same level of quality and service. And shout out to Hassan and David at the bar who offered friendly conversation and excellent recommendations. Would definitely recommend for graduation, dinner with friends, date night, work meals, or solo dining (which is what I did).

From the host greeting us and seating us with high-quality hospitality, to the superlative flavor profiles in every dish; Moona is top notch Cambridge cuisine. Our server, Sara G., and the serving assistant collaborated with ease to ensure our table was clean and set throughout 3 courses. 5 stars across the board from this tough food critic;) Thank you!

Everything about this meal was outstanding! The service was attentive and friendly. Having flagged this as a birthday celebration, our table was tastefully decorated for the occasion, and they noted it throughout, without creating a big loud deal out of it. And the food was really excellent -- from the spiced pita chips and Lebanese wine to the bakhlava for dessert. Each dish was tasty, hot, fresh, and nicely presented. So glad we have a Lebanese community in our neighborhood, and here's hoping that the rest of us support them!
